Building a Framework for Adaptive Silviculture Under Global Change

Abstract Uncertainty surrounding global change impacts on future forest conditions has motivated the development of silviculture strategies and frameworks focused enhancing potential adaptation to changing climate disturbance regimes. This includes applying current silvicultural practices, such as thinning mixed-species multicohort systems, novel experimental approaches, including deployment future-adapted species genotypes, make forests more resilient changes. In this chapter, we summarize general paradigms approaches associated with along a gradient ranging from resistance transition. We describe how these concepts have been operationalized present landscape-scale for allocating different intensities part functionally complex networks in face change.
